Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Jets news:

Illegal Curve:  Connor Hellebuyck filed for arbitration.  The news broke in the evening on Wednesday and while some were concerned about that word “arbitration” the reality is it isn’t as ominous as it sounds.

Sportsnet:   Jets focus on playoff push but keep eye on long-term future.  There was zero chance this team could have another season of “growing pains” next year.  While they aren’t going to mortgage the future for the chance at immediate success that reality isn’t too far away.

FRS:  Darren Dreger thinks the Jets are still in market for forward.  Transcribed chat with the hockey insider from TSN as he spoke with the guys on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Jets hope Kulikov can bounce back after a down year.  Scott Cullen of TSN.ca spoke to Rick Ralph about the Winnipeg Jets signings of Steve Mason & Dmitry Kulikov and other goalie signings around the league.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  No doubt Mason is Jets starting goalie.  Winnipeg play-by-play man Paul Edmonds joined the Big Show to touch on the club’s moves in free agency including the impact of Dmitry Kulikov on the back-end, how the squad can fix their special teams and why Steve Mason will be in the crease opening night for the Jets.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  GM Craig Heisinger wins Thomas Ebright Award.  He has dedicated many years of his life to this league and last night he was recognized for that service.

Illegal Curve:  Moose sign seven players.  I touched on the return of captain Patrice Cormier and Winnipegger Peter Stoykewych on Tuesday and yesterday the team confirmed those two signings as well as five others.
