Note II:  The Jets announced yesterday that they placed veteran defenceman Mark Stuart on unconditional waivers for purposes of buying out his contract.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Stuart buyout clears cap room.  There was certainly a buzz in the air when the news broke early Friday morning and it has folks wondering what exactly the team has in store for the open of free agency at 11 AM CT.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets land Mason.  Sure sounds like the Jets have their netminder but from what Mason has said in the past it doesn’t sound like the veteran netminder was looking for a platoon situation.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Mason making his way to Winnipeg, sources say.  (Paywall).  Jeff broke the news yesterday that Mason would be the guy filling the goalie void.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets won’t be wallflowers when free agent period opens.  (Paywall).  It appears the Jets will be busy today.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets may be opportune landing spot for Mason.  (Paywall).  The NHL veteran goalie is looking for a chance to be the go to guy for a team.
