Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note: Big three hours of the IC Hockey Show starting at 9 am on TSN 1290 Winnipeg as we chat wrap up the Winnipeg Jets season, look at the NHL playoff picture and then spend the final hour of the show (11 am – 12 noon) with our annual Jets end of season roundtable with Jeff Hamilton (Winnipeg Free Press) & Scott Billeck (Jets correspondent for NHL.com).  Guests:  Kevin Allen (USA Today), Bill West (Pittsburgh Tribune) and Mike Heika (Dallas Morning News).  Tune in here.

Note II:  With a 1-0 win last night in Cleveland the Moose officially wrapped up the on-ice portion of their 2016-17 season.  It was a wild, fight-filled affair that saw three players as well as coach Vincent get tossed from the game.  However Eric Comrie picked up the shutout, Kyle Connor’s game winner was his 25th goal of the season and Jack Roslovic got an assist which meant he ended the season with 48 (most on the team).  Worth mentioning that Jansen Harkins also had an assist last night and ends his four games with the Moose with two goals and two assists.

Jets news:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Paul Maurice comfortable with current contract situation.  Eyes will be on the MTS Centre quite a bit this Summer as folks wait to see if the current bench boss will be extended or if he will continue on the final season of his deal.

Illegal Curve:  GM Kevin Cheveldayoff wants to finish what he started.  Not a surprise that the general manager wants to keep his vision moving forward.

Illegal Curve:  All 36 goals from Winnipeg Jets rookie Patrik Laine 2016-17.  (Video).  If you’ve got twenty minutes to kill you can re-live all the goals the Jets rookie scored this past season.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The hardest season for goaltending on memory.  Missed this from the other day as Kevin Woodley of InGoal Magazine joined Hustler & Lawless to discuss the Winnipeg Jets goaltending, why this season was especially difficult on Connor Hellebuyck in transitioning to a full-time NHL goaltender, and why he thinks Eric Comrie should come up to the big team.

Moose news:

Official Manitoba site:  Kyle Connor had the lone goal as the Moose closed the season with a victory.  While the team as a whole didn’t have the level of success they wanted there were some excellent individual results (some of which I outlined in Note II).  In his recap Tyler gives you the game story and quick hits.

Prince George Citizen:  Harkins makes his mark against Monsters.  In just four games with the club he has two goals and two assists.
