Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  While the Jets season is officially over after last night’s 2-1 win over the Predators and the players will be leaving the city we will have a chance to reflect with them about the 2016-17 this morning at the MTS Centre.  Kicks off at 8:30 am and should run until about noon.  Coach Paul Maurice and GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will address the media on Monday.  So keep it locked to illegalcurve.com as well as our various social media accounts including  Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  After the parent club has exited the building there will still be hockey to be played at the MTS Centre as the Manitoba Moose finish off the home portion of their 2016-17 season this afternoon as they look for the weekend series sweep over the Roadrunners.  I will finish off the season (my 76th Jets/Moose game) providing colour analysis for the broadcast along with play by play voice Mitch Peacock on TSN 1290 Winnipeg starting with pre-game at 1:45 pm.  Puck drop is at 2 pm.

Jets news:

Globe and Mail:  Jets beat Predators, end season on seven-game win streak.  Judy recaps last night’s game.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets go out on a high.  While it wasn’t a banner game for the first 40 minutes the Jets managed to get things turned around in the final frame.  Ken recaps the action as a familiar pair played the role of heroes.

Winnipeg Sun:  Thorburn may have played final game with Jets.  Hitting game #750 was a pretty significant milestone for one of the most well likely players on this Winnipeg roster.

Winnipeg Sun:  Connor takes advantage of opportunity.  He got the bump up from the 4th to the 3rd line and showed what he has been doing for the last few months with the Moose.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets cap disappointing season with seven-game winning streak.  (Paywall).  Nothing says unexpected like a seven game win streak for the first time in franchise (both Jets 2.0 and Thrashers) history.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Morrissey soars in first season with Jets.  (Paywall).  We’ve talked about his performance all season long.
