Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note: The big news of the day on Monday was the recall of Nelson Nogier although we won’t know if he is playing until morning skate.  The Jets will hit the ice at 10:30 AM for a morning skate as they get ready to take on the Flyers tonight.  Puck drop is at 7 PM.  As always keep it locked to illegalcurve.com for pre and post game news and be sure to follow us on social media including Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  The Moose are back on the ice after having Monday off.  Today they will practice at the IcePlex at 11 AM at the IcePlex.

Jets news:

Metro News:  Classic WHA Jets uniforms won’t be worn next season.  While I know this is a reality with the new jersey provider coming in for next year it is a shame that these excellent uniforms will be on the shelf (or in the closet) for a little while.

Winnipeg Sun:  Five keys to Jets vs. Flyers.  Ken’s list includes: 1) Goalie stands tall. 2) Wheeler keeps it going. 3) Hold the fort. 4) Beware of Wayne-train. 5) Provorov heating up. And Ken’s big matchup is Mark Scheifele vs Sean Couturier.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets’ defensive depth put to the test.  That is just a bit of an understatement.  It is a wonder the Jets have any D left when you consider they are missing Trouba, Enstrom, Myers and Postma.  Potentially add Stuart or Chiarot to that mix and I don’t even know how to describe that reality.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Proud Perreault prefers to dwell on the positives.  (Paywall).  He is a battler and you could sense the frustration yet at the same time recognize that he is the type of player who preservers despite the adversity.

Mathieu Perreault makes a pass

Winnipeg Free Press:  D-pleted Jets call up Nogier from Moose.  (Paywall).  Bet the rookie didn’t think this was a likelihood this season but as I stated above who could have envisioned the situation deteriorating to this degree.

Illegal Curve:  Jets Practice Report.  A look at what was happening at the MTS Centre yesterday including audio from Nelson Nogier, Brian Strait and coach Maurice.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Scheifele’s drive makes him special.  Former Winnipeg Jet and Hockey Hall of Fame member Dale Hawerchuk joined the Big Show to talk Mark Scheifele’s rise in the NHL, the exciting future of the Jets and whether or not coaching in the NHL is a part of his future.
