Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets won’t have any time to dwell on last night’s 5-4 OT loss as they flew into New Jersey late (more like in the early morning hours) and will have a game tonight against the Devils.  No morning skate for Winnipeg so we won’t know the status of Marko Dano or Jacob Trouba until closer to puck drop.  With the move to the eastern side of North America puck drop is at 6 pm CDT.  Update:  The game tonight against the Devils has been cancelled due to severe weather in the area.

Note II:  Locally there will also be some hockey tonight as the Moose and Marlies re-match goes down at the MTS Centre with a 7 pm puck drop.  I’m jumping into the broadcast booth with play by play voice Mitch Peacock to provide some colour analysis for the game.  You can hear it live on Moose Hockey.

Jets news:

National Post:  With playoff spot out of the question, Jets playing for pride and for some, jobs next season.  While it may be tough to watch the individual battles for players who will be competing for a spot on the roster could at least make for some entertaining play.

That rough patch came with numerous heartbreaks but ultimately showed Tyler and Michela just how resilient their family is. Sara Orlesky has more.

Toronto Sun:  Calder Trophy debate – Will East Coast bias hurt or help Auston Matthews?  And this was written before Patrik Laine added his 33rd goal of the season and continued to build his rookie points lead over the field.  This story however is primarily about the view of Matthews but still touches on Laine.
