Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  Day 2 of the Jets bye week.  Bored yet?  Well fear not as we shall try to keep you entertained.

Note II:  The Moose completed their two game set against the IceHogs last night dropping a 1-0 decision in a shootout.  Eric Comrie picked up the shutout despite the loss and Kyle Connor played his best AHL game of the season.  The team has a day off today before they hit the ice at 11 AM on Friday for a practice as they get ready for back to back games against the Rampage on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  The good, the (not) bad and the ugly in Jetsville.  (Paywall).  Former NHLer turned scribe Scott Campbell takes a look at some different areas for the Jets.

TSN:  Wheeler reflects on leadership role in WinnipegDennis goes one on one with the Jets captain in this chat that provides some insight into how Wheeler views his first year as captain.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets will face tough task when they return from 5-day breakThere is both good and bad news coming out of the bye week blues that most NHL teams have faced.  The bad news is that the Jets face one of the top teams in the Western Conference when the Minnesota Wild come to town on Tuesday.  The good news is that the Wild are also coming off their bye week so whatever malaise that is impacting the Jets will likely similarly be impacting Minnesota.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Laine rookie card scores big with collectors.  (Paywall).  I’m having a flashback to my days of searching for that elusive Eric Lindros rookie card (Score Canadian vs Score U.S.).  Sounds like card collecting is back in vogue in Peg city as well as Toronto.

Sportsnet:  Give the Winnipeg Jets their history back.  (Video).  Patrik Laine has set the rookie goals record for Thrashers/Jets franchise but that does not include the original Jets franchise aka Teemu Selanne. Tim and Sid lead the charge that the current Jets should be given the old Jets records and history.

Metro News:  No asterisk needed, the rookie scoring record is Laine’s.  Sometimes it seems like it is impossible to have anything nice without the need for controversy.

The Hockey News:  Confusing Jets history means Laine has rookie goal record, not SelanneThe commingling of both the Jets 1.0 as well as the Thrashers history will likely continue in both the obvious official capacity as well as unofficially for those of us who reside in the 204 and now 431.  While it may cause some confusion I don’t anticipate it ever changing.

The Athlectic:  Auston Matthews, Patrik Laine and the rebirth of the Canadian NHL team superstar Good read on what these two players mean to these two franchises.
