Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose news.

Note:  The Jets look to win their fourth game in the last five after a big 3-2 OT win over central division rival St. Louis.  The club left Missouri for Illinois where they will play in Chicago today at 6 pm.  While the Jets beat the Blues in OT the Hawks lost to the Flyers 3-1 in Philadelphia on Saturday.  In addition to this they were forced to adjust their goalies rotation when Corey Crawford was forced to have an emergency appendectomy.  As always be sure to keep it locked to illegalcurve.com for pre and post game news and on social media including via Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.

Note II:  The Moose didn’t fare as well as their parent club falling to the visiting Texas Stars 6-1 on Star Wars game day.  They will have a chance to exact some revenge when the two clubs meet for the re-match this afternoon at the MTS Centre.  As always I will be down at the game and will update the site following the conclusion of action.

Note III:  While Mark Scheifele wasn’t healthy enough to play on Saturday coach Maurice indicated that the Jets top centre is an option for today’s game against the Hawks.  Since the Jets won’t skate in advance of the game we will likely have to wait to see what the lines will be against Chicago.

Jets news:

CSN Chicago:  Five things to watch.  From the Chicago perspective which includes: 1)  Seeking revenge. 2) Tired legs?  Not so fast. 3) Who’s in, who’s out on D? 4) Patrik Laine and 5) Capitalize on special teams.

Ottawa Sun:  Garrioch’s Sunday Column.  In his ‘off the glass’ section he writes that there are executives that believe coach Maurice could be on the hot seat.

Winnipeg Sun:  St. Louis bruised by Jets.  Is it possible this Jets team can only have success when they are facing adversity?  Sure seems that way.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Little goes a long way with Laine to score OT goal against Blues.  (Paywall).  Is the best part of this new duo the fact that we can come up with new puntastic headlines?  Jeff recaps the game from St. Louis.  Listening to the replay on the Blues broadcast Darren Pang called Laine’s pass Mario Lemieux-esque and watching the replay you cannot help but see that parallel.

St. Louis Post Dispatch:  Blues’ win streak snapped with 3-2 overtime loss to Jets.  Read about the game from a beat writer who covers the Jets opponents.

Sportsnet:  Big road trip.  (Video).  Little talks about hitting the ground running after injury, his OT winner against the St. Louis Blues and an important road trip for the Jets.

TSN:  TSN Go.  (Video).   Patrik Laine showed another dimension to his game against the Blues. Dave Poulin explains how the young Jets star made some intelligent adjustments to help Winnipeg to a win.

Chicago Tribune:  Booming shot has Jets teenager Patrik Laine opening eyes in NHL.  Another goal last night but it was the assist that has everyone talking.  Even before the game folks in Chicago were taking note of Patsyuk.

Jets 3 Blues 2 in OT:

Illegal Curve:  Post-game recap.  Includes a quick recap, stats and post-game audio from Blake Wheeler, Patrik Laine, Bryan Little, Chris Thorburn and coach Maurice.

Moose news:

AHL Official site:  Following the road home.  For three Moose players it is a special opportunity each and every home game.

Illegal Curve:  The force was not with Moose in 6-1 loss to Stars in Star Wars game.  A look at some of the pre-game festivities, a recap and post-game audio from Chase De Leo and coach Vincent.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Moose/Jets forward De Leo finally unpacks bags, endures whipping.  I remember thinking when the Jets called him back from that California road  trip to go on the longest Jets road trip of the year that De Leo was going to be living out of his suitcase for awhile.  Add to that the fact that he got returned by the Jets when the Moose were leaving for a roadie and you have one long getaway.
