TSN: Matthews, Laine destined to be forever compared. No question about it. When two prospects get this much hype and both play in major hockey markets I don’t ever really see it dying down.
Toronto Star: It’s Laine vs. Matthews in a battle of No.2 vs No.1 overall. Bit of ink being used on these hyped up headlines over in Ontario.
Toronto Sun: Matthews downplays first meeting with Laine. These two players will be linked for the rest of their careers so while they may try to downplay the significance of facing each other the hockey world will be watching. (no pressure or anything).

Sportsnet: Rivalry or not, first edition of Matthews vs. Laine will be special. Whether this rivalry is a media construct or not most eyes inside the MTS Centre (and those watching at home) will be keeping them on these two young guns.
