Note:  The Jets have the day off today.  The team will hit the ice for a game day skate at the MTS Centre tomorrow as they get ready to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Note II:  Don’t fret though as you won’t be without hockey as the Manitoba Moose have their home opener as they welcome the Bakersfield Condors for game three on their schedule.  I will be down at the MTS Centre  during the day and for the game so keep it locked to illegalcurve.com and on social media including Twitter|Facebook | Instagram for all the latest Moose news.  (For some insight into today’s game day skate lines and audio click here).

CBC:  The Great One hopes for a tie in Oilers-Jets legends game in Winnipeg.  Good news for #99 is that the temps are supposed to be around +10 for their game.

Toronto Sun:  Matthews downplays first meeting with Laine.  These two players will be linked for the rest of their careers so while they may try to downplay the significance of facing each other the hockey world will be watching.  (no pressure or anything).

Winnipeg Free Press:  Lemieux ready to rumble with Moose after missing Jets camp.  (Paywall).  He was one of those players many of us were going to be keeping our eye on during Jets training camp as someone who could possibly challenge for a spot on the Jets roster.  The injury suffered in the Prospect Tournament set that back but we will now have a chance to watch him compete from the AHL as he pushes for an NHL roster spot.

Jets news:

Today’s Slapshot:  Darren Dreger – Cheveldayoff and Jets remain patient on Trouba front.  Missed this one from yesterday.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets fall to Bruins.  The lack of power in the power play was a bit concerning to fans who were wondering where all that pre-season optimism has gone.  Ken breaks down the loss.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Bob Essensa thrilled to pull on Jets jersey again; his body, however... (Paywall).  All I hear when I see that headline is “Great save Essensa”.

NESN:  David Pastrnak scores again as Boston rebounds, beats JetsA recap of the game from the Boston perspective.
