Note II:  The Moose will hit the ice for their second game in Iowa as they look to sweep the opening series of the season against the Wild.  Puck drops at 7 pm today in Des Moines.

Note III:  While you can count on three hours of hockey talk from the Illegal Curve Hockey Show today we are slightly modifying our schedule and will be on from 12 noon until 3 pm on TSN 1290 Winnipeg.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Ken’s Notes.  Includes talk about the Little injury, Burmistrov jumping into the lineup, call up options, line juggling, Matthias first goal, Morrissey steady and Pavelec’s future.


Winnipeg Sun:  Not all rosy despite Jets’ stirring win.  It wasn’t as if the Jets knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champs.  This was a young Carolina team that isn’t expected to do much this season so it may be a tad early to plan the parade.  Ted writes about some causes for concern.

Illegal Curve:  Jets pick Jump by Van Halen as new goal song.  With all the action that happened during the home opener it was somewhat overlooked that the Jets 2.0 threw it back to the goal song of the Jets 1.0.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Jets Lunch.  (Video).  TSN Jets analyst Shane Hnidy joined Rick Ralph on Winnipeg Lunch to discuss the Jets’ comeback win over the Hurricanes, as well as how Bryan Little’s injury will affect the Jets lineup going forward.

TSN 1050 Toronto:  Leafs Lunch. (Video).  Host Andi Petrillo and co-hosts Patrick O’Sullivan & Dave Poulin are joined TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie to discuss Patrick Laine’s NHL debut.

Moose news:

TSN:  Comrie solid as Moose get win.  The young prospect goalie made 28 of 29 saves in the season opener win while Nogier and Roslovic both scored in their professional debuts.

Illegal Curve:  Moose name Patrice Cormier captain.  As one of the veteran guys on this roster who has spent his entire career in the organization he was an obvious choice to wear the ‘C’.

Sarnia Observer:  Not over the Hill yet.  Amazing to think that 27 can be considered old in a profession.  Learn about this defenceman who is still trying to have an impact, despite his “advanced” age.
