Afternoon Jets news:

Metro News:  Time on Winnipeg Jets’ side regarding Trouba.  Hustler offers up his thoughts on the situation.

Winnipeg Free Press:  More veterans, college phenom Connor taking on Wild.  Fans will get to see a few more vets tonight against Minnesota.

Illegal Curve:  Jets vs. Wild projected lines.  Check out the lines, D pairs as well as starting goalies for tonight’s first pre-season game.  In addition the post contains audio from Connor Hellebuyck, Kyle Connor, Mathieu Perreault and Bryan Little.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler and Lawless.  Paul Wiecek of the Winnipeg Free Press joins the guys ahead of the Winnipeg Jets – Minnesota Wild preseason game to discuss a noticeable absentee at Jets training camp: Jacob Trouba.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Delayed but not dismayed.  (Paywall). Tanev turned some heads in the first pre-season game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Former Oiler Huddy knows value of drills at Jets practices.  (Paywall).  While young players may groan when they hear drills talk clearly the brass is working hard to modify them to make them even more significant and beneficial.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Notebook.  (Paywall).  Includes Laine, Injury updates, Wheeler rarin’ to go and scrimmage goal scorers.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets’ intensity shocked Laine.  None of the players who are at Jets training camp are prepared to concede anything to another player based on their pedigree.

Winnipeg Sun:  Laine happy in Winnipeg, camped out in hotel with his PlayStation.  He is getting a slow intro to the city of Winnipeg but it will be quite interesting when he gets that first introduction to 15,294 fans in the stands.

Winnipeg Sun:  Running the gauntlet to make Jets.  While the players may not like the idea of shrinking numbers of available spots, fans have to like that this competition will force players to get to that next level.

Sportsnet:  Seven potential trade destinations for Winnipeg Jets’ Jacob Trouba.  Below you will find an article with six options but this one has SEVEN options.

Today’s Slapshot:  Darren Dreger – Red Wings made summer trade offer to Jets for TroubaWhile it would make sense from a Michigan perspective to get the kid from Rochester back in his home state, doesn’t appear the pieces speculated to be coming back made all that much sense for Winnipeg.

Illegal Curve:  Jets to get new goal song for the 2016-17 season.  It will be the third song the team has used for their goal song since the team returned in 2011-12.  Lots of speculation as to what song will get chosen.
