Afternoon Jets news:

Today’s Slapshot:  Darren Dreger – Red Wings made summer trade offer to Jets for TroubaWhile it would make sense from a Michigan perspective to get the kid from Rochester back in his home state, doesn’t appear the pieces speculated to be coming back made all that much sense for Winnipeg.

National Post:  Six teams that could trade for Jets defenceman Jacob TroubaSomething tells me that until this situation gets resolved we are going to be seeing daily articles on “destinations for Trouba”.  Michael adds his thoughts as to what teams we could see the young defenceman end up on if he gets traded by the Jets.

Winnipeg Sun:  Postma ready for regular duty with Jets.  No time like the present for Paul Postma as he will likely never get a better chance to take a spot on the roster than he has right now.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets blanked by Flames in exhibition opener.  (Paywall).  In addition to the loss on the scoreboard the team lost free agent signee Shawn Mathias after the 1st period to an upper body injury.  We didn’t get an update from assistant coach Jamie Kompon.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Adam Oates dishes assist to Melchiori.  (Paywall).  Very interesting to read that Melchori worked with Oates during the summer to really change up his game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Comrie low man on goalie totem, but not to worry.  (Paywall).  More seasoning with the Manitoba Moose is in this prospect’s future.

Today’s Slapshot:  Bob McKenzie explains why Hall-for-Trouba trade never happened.  Not a big surprise but further confirmation on why this trade never happened.

NHL.com:  MTS Centre building enhancements for the 2016-2017 season.  Was quite impressed by some of the changes inside the building last night.  The new seats looked much better in all blue (with the exception of the section that is grey in the 300s which signifies where true north is situated).

CBC:  Organ installed at MTS Centre in time for 2016-17 NHL season.  Folks don’t like the organ, they absolutely love it as they see it as a throw back to the past.  It’s funny seeing the organist up between 317-318 behind the glass.
