TSN:  Wheeler heads new leadership group in Winnipeg.  More from this afternoon’s announcement at the MTS Centre.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Wheeler’s all grown up.  He has certainly hit his stride as a player during the last few years and the team will have to hope they can really harass that as they attempt to turn the corner next season and into the future.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Wheeler has found his identity, but is he ready to be captain?  (Paywall).  Aside from Scheifele you’d have to think that Wheeler has the title if he want it.

NHL.com:  Patrik Laine healthy, ready to represent Finland.  Good news for Finland and better news for Jets fans.

TSN:  Which historical statistics best predict future scoring rates?  Primarily an article about stats but of note to Jets fans is the fact that using the criteria in the article he predicts that Wheeler and Scheifele could finish as high as second and third in scoring next season.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  Manitoba sign Cormier and Czuczman to one year AHL deals.  As we end August the Moose made a couple more rosters moves bringing back veteran forward Patrice Cormier and adding some defensive depth with signing of Kevin Czuczman.
