Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Laine’s low-key landing shows how much has changed since Jets 1.0.  (Paywall).  Is it a problem if a team seeks to shelter a young prospect?  Should he be as accessible as any other player?  With social media being what it is today I don’t think the guys who were in charge of looking after Hull or Hawerchuk had quite the same situation as what a player today would be exposed to.

ESPN:  Colorful Patrik Laine has what it takes to separate from the crowd.  This is in keeping with what I was hearing from Finnish media throughout the draft.  Winnipeg got themselves a special player with the second overall pick.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets draft pick Patrik Laine gets a warm welcome to Winnipeg.  (Paywall).  From his arrival at the airport to pretty much anything he does during his time here he can expect to be treated like royalty.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets throw net over RFAs with qualifying offers.  (Paywall).  Tim offers up this insight into the moves made by Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets give qualifying offers to eight of nine.  Ken writes about the players that the Jets qualified yesterday.

Winnipeg Sun:  Scheifele not sweating new deal.  No surprise that he isn’t saying much about the next contract he will sign with the Jets.

Sports and Moore:  What kind of teammate is Winnipeg Jets Patrik Laine?  (Video).  Halifax native Stephen Dixon (Penguins 7th round pick in 2003) was one of the older members of Laine’s Tappara team and tells John Moore what kind of teammate Laine was this past season.

Illegal Curve:  Logan Stanley: Draft Day Reach, or Diamond in the Rough?  Peter pens this piece on what the Jets may have gotten in their second 1st round pick this past weekend in Buffalo.

Illegal Curve:  Jets issue qualifying offers to all RFAs except Austen Brassard.  The 2011 5th round pick was the only player not to get qualified and he will become a UFA as a result.
