Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets and Moose news.

Note:  It was a slow start to the second last home game of the season but it was an exciting 3rd period and OT as Hawks rookie Artemi Panarin finished with two goals and two assists, including a slick pass to Brent Seabrook for the game winner.  Jets have a 12 noon skate today.

Note II:  Over in Iowa the Moose dropped the second game of the road trip after winning game one on Wednesday night.  Last night the Wild pulled off the 4-2 win.  Manitoba now returns home for the final four game home stand of the season.  They have the day off today.

Note III:  Tune into the Illegal Curve Hockey Show starting at 9 am on TSN 1290 Winnipeg for three hours of Winnipeg Jets and NHL hockey talk.  Guests:  Anthony LaPanta (Wild Television Play-by-Play), Brad Berry (UND hockey Head Coach ) & Chris Bonnell (Hobey Baker Committee Chair).

Jets news:

CBC:  Jets’ leadership race down to 2.  A look at who could be named captain of the Jets.  Personally, I’m not sure I’d have Bryan Little so low down the list.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Hawks edge Jets despite Wheeler’s 3-point game.  (Paywall).  Lots to take in from Tim’s recap of last night game.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Media brace for seismic shift.  Paul writes about the changing tide in terms of access and how fans lose in curtailed access to reporters.  But perhaps the answer is evolution?

Winnipeg Sun:  Wheeler sets career-high.  He was all over the place last night and really was the best player on the ice but finds it difficult to put his own personal success above the collective group.

Winnipeg Sun:  Little hopes season not over.  Hockey players always want to play but I really find it hard to see the value in him playing in a game before the end of the year.

Sportsnet:  Brent Seabrook scores OT winner in thriller with Jets.  It was quite the extra frame as it began with Kane and Toews vs. Wheeler and Scheifele.

Chicago Sun-Times:  Blackhawks lose Andrew Shaw, but beat Jets in thriller.  Read about the game from the perspective of an opposition beat writer.

Post-game audio:

Illegal Curve:  Winnipeg Jets player audio.  Blake Wheeler, Ondrej Pavelec, Mark Scheifele & Nic Petan.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game.  Hear from the Jets bench boss following the loss to the Blackhawks.

Moose news:

Manitoba official site:  Wild defeat Moose in final match of the season series.  A recap of last night’s loss as Connor Hellebuyck’s win streak came to an end.

Globalnews.ca:  Tragic Hip doesn’t slow down defenceman Tyson Wilson.  A report on one of the newest Moose signees.
