Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets and Moose news.

Note:  The Jets left British Columbia with a 5-2 win and are now in Calgary for a date tomorrow night with the Flames.  Today the team will practice this afternoon at the Saddledome.

Note II:  The Moose have another day of practice at the MTS Centre as they continue to get ready for a game against the Monsters in Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday.

Note III: NHL This Week with The Illegal Curve Hockey Show returns to the TSN 1290 Radio airwaves tonight from 6 -8 pm CST after a one week hiatus with plenty of Jets and NHL Talk.  Guests already confirmed: Jonas Siegel (Canadian Press) and Joshua Smith (Scouting The Refs)

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Five Takes.  (Paywall).  Includes 1) Where was this earlier? 2) Soft tank.  3) Canucks talk. 4) Status of Hutchinson. 5) Kyle Connor.

CBC:  Tough times, big hopes across Western Canada’s NHL teams.  A look at which team has the brightest future.

Winnipeg Sun:  Dano delivers for Jets in 5-2 victory over Canucks.  His teammates had fun with the fact that his second goal of the game went in off his butt.  Jets brass have to be happy to see the player they got back in the Ladd deal is having some impact on the game.

Winnipeg Sun:  Lowry pushing forward for Jets.  It hasn’t been a banner year for the young forward but it seems to have turned around since he was sent to the Moose for some seasoning.

Lowry makes the pass

Vancouver Sun:  Third time not the charm for Canucks.  Read about last night’s contest via the pen (or keyboard) of a Canucks beat writer.

Globalnews.ca:  ‘Kroppy’ hoping to make Winnipeg Jets home game by end of month.  This is good news as there was plenty of speculation that the fan favourite might not be at another home game this season.  While the veteran didn’t make it to the military appreciation game this season fans would still like to give him a cheer during the anthem if the opportunity presents itself.

Jets 5 Canucks 2 post-game audio:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game.  Performance of Michael Hutchinson.  Did he like the pace of his team?  Unlocking the scoring potential of Marko Dano.  Seen a boost since he’s moved him to the top 6?  What does he like from Tyler Myers game?  Players stepping up at this point in the season.  Scheifele having the hot hand.  Status of Dustin Byfuglien?  What did he like from Julian Melchiori?

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  The Monday Manitoba Moose Report.  You can still read our Monday Report on a Tuesday.  Peter includes a Week-in-Review, Kosmachuk making his mark with the big club and a NCAA Prospects Update.

Moose audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  Moose Goalie Eric Comrie discusses his first full pro season with Rick Ralph.

Prospect news:

Winnipeg Sun:  Accolades pour in for Winnipeg Jets prospect Kyle Connor.  Ken was down in Ann Arbor and had a chance to watch Kyle Connor play a game last weekend and then speak post-game with the Jets draft pick.

Illegal Curve:  Kyle Connor earns five post-season Big Ten Conference distinctions.  Is there anything the Jets 2015 1st round pick can’t do?  Getting closer and closer to putting his name on the Hobey Baker trophy.

Hockey’s Future:  Some of the Jets’ top talent lies outside the borders of Canada.  Just a look at some of the prospects in the system.
