Note: The Jets have the day off following last night’s one game road trip to Michigan. The team returns to the MTS Centre tomorrow for a game against the Colorado Avalanche.
Note II: While the Jets left Michigan, the Moose will be on the west side of the Wolverine State taking on the Grand Rapids Griffins in a pair of games starting tonight.
Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Predictable loss in Motown moves Jets closer to crucial draft position. (Paywall). It looked good for awhile but eventually the Wings, desperate for points, came back for the win.
Winnipeg Free Press: Sit back, Jets fans, as Scheifele sets own pace. (Paywall). While there was some consternation about his selection that seems to be well in the past.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets keep finding ways to lose. The frustration level in that room has to be at boiling levels right now. Last season it seemed Jets found ways to win the close game and this year the opposite seems to be occurring.
Winnipeg Sun: Copp lives NHL dream with first game in home state. For guys growing up in Michigan playing at the legendary Joe Louis Arena is a major milestone. While some will play there in college game it is next level (literally) to be able to play a professional game at the iconic arena.
CBC: Scheifele’s stock rising at the right time — for him. He is going to get paid and with his play it is going to be a lot more than many may have thought to begin the season.
CBC: Jets can’t ground Red Wings’ rally. The Winged Wheel would not be denied.
CBS Sports: Dustin Byfuglien exits with upper-body injury. On the list of last things this team needs this is probably on the top of that list. With the Jets off today expect an update tomorrow following skate at MTS Centre.
Metro News: Heritage Classic finally links the old with the new. I don’t think there was any question what fans wanted.
