Note II:  The Jets will hit the ice for a practice this morning at the MTS Centre.  They kick off the first of five straight home games tomorrow night against the Florida Panthers.

Note III:  The Moose are off today.  The team will practice for the week in Winnipeg before departing on Thursday for a pair of games in Texas next weekend.

Afternoon Jets news:

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets enter March like lambs.  (Paywall).  The opportunity was there to gain ground in February but the Jets couldn’t get things turned around.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Maata contract hints at Trouba’s true value.  (Paywall).  No question that Jets brass were dancing in the streets when the Penguins signed this deal.

Winnipeg Sun:  Former Jets captain returns to Blackhawks.  Ken was in Chicago and caught up with the former Jets captain.

Winnipeg Sun:  Future uncertain for Pardy.  Its unusual to hear guys voicing their frustration to the media but Pardy is clearly not happy with his situation.  Ken also spoke to Michael Hutchinson and whether he was being showcased in advance of the trade deadline.  He also touches on Trouba’s comparables, Connor cruising and Hamonic likely staying put.

Illegal Curve:  Checkers sneak by Moose in 2-1 win. Recap, Top Moose and post-game audio (J.C. Lipon, Connor Hellebuyck & Coach McCambridge).

Globalnews.ca:  Special teams sink Manitoba Moose in 2-1 loss to Charlotte Checkers.  All three goals were a result of special teams play.  Moose acknowledged that bad penalties cost them a chance at the win.
