Note II:  The Moose will be loose for a weekend double header which begins tonight at the MTS Centre against the Checkers.  Puck drops at 7 pm.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  No white flags on Jets’ bench.  (Paywall).  Sportsclubstats has the Jets chances at making the playoffs at 1.8%.  To quote a line from Dumb and Dumber “So you’re telling me there’s a chance?”.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Will Blake Wheeler ever catch up to the Stanley Cup?  (Paywall).  Not easy for a guy in his prime to see that his team is taking a step back, even if it is just for a year.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Dano, Jets excited for new opportunity.  (Paywall).  He said the only guy he knows is actually Jan Kostalek who plays for the Moose but doesn’t sound like it will take him long to get known to the guys in the room.  Or the fans, especially if they continue the Columbus tradition of chanting “Marko” “Dano” like Marco Polo.

Winnipeg Sun:  Wheeler ready for the C.  You would be hard pressed to find anyone who think that anyone other than Wheeler should be wearing the letter which signifies the leader on and off the ice.

Winnipeg Sun:  Dano happy to be a Jet.  The 1st round pick( 27th overall) in 2013 sure sounded excited at the prospect of getting this opportunity.

Winnipeg Sun: Saying goodbye to #AGoodLadd.  It isn’t easy saying goodbye but fans in Winnipeg gave their former captain a good sendoff for his years of service.

Sportsnet:  Jets eye quick turnaround from lost season.  Will it be a quick turnaround or will fans have to deal with  a few more years of build?

TSN:  That’s Hockey. (Video).  What grade should Kevin Cheveldayoff earn for the Andrew Ladd deal? Will Marko Dano pan out and fit in Winnipeg?

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler and Lawless.  TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins the show to review the Andrew Ladd trade, and explain what the Winnipeg Jets are getting in Marko Dano. Button also updates H&L on Kyle Connor and Jack Roslovic’s seasons.

Barry joins Hockey Central @ Noon to talk about when it became clear that client Andrew Ladd wouldn’t resign with the Winnipeg Jets, if getting dollars or term is tougher with veteran players, how Ladd handled his impending departure from Manitoba, the forward’s reaction to finding out he was dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks, if staying with Chicago past this season is likely, his dialogue with Kevin Cheveldayoff leading up to the trade.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  Analyst JP Vigier discusses the great performances by Mark Scheifele, Joel Armia and Nikolaj Ehlers in Dallas and what the Andrew Ladd trade means for the young players on the team.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show.  Adam Gretz of CBS Sports joined the Big Show for hockey talk including more reaction on the Andrew Ladd trade, why the Jets made the right decision in moving on from Ladd and how Marko Dano fits a perfect need in the Winnipeg organization.

Moose news:

Illegal Curve:  Jimmy Lodge and Axel Blomqvist recalled from Tulsa.  With Harrison and Fraser heading to Rockford as part of the Ladd trade the Moose needed to make some moves.
