Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets finished off their four game road trip last night in Sunrise, Florida falling 3-1 to the Panthers.  They went just 1-3 on the road and currently languish last in the central and 27th overall in the NHL.  The team has an off day today.  They will return to the ice Monday as they get ready for a home and home against the Dallas Stars starting Tuesday night at the MTS Centre.

Note II:  Unlike the parent club the Moose seem to have turned things around of late as they pulled off their fourth straight win last night in Milwaukee beating the Admirals 4-1.  The team will spend today traveling as they head to Iowa for their final two road games of this trip, against the only team in the AHL standings lower than Manitoba.

Jets news:

TSN:  Cheveldayoff doing a lot of listening on Ladd.   He’s still got plenty of time to get something done.

Ottawa Sun:  Insider Trading:  NHL GMs keeping their phones close by as trade deadline looms.  Essentially gives the Jets one line in his Rumours Du Jour section about Ladd holding up trades around NHL as he will set the market for forwards.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Missed chances turn momentum.  (Paywall).  How many breakaways did the Jets get in the 2nd period alone?  Just burying one could have been a turning point.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jagr juggernaut rolls over Jets.  (Paywall).  Plenty to digest in Tim’s recap of the game.  One bright spot for the Jets is the play of captain Andrew Ladd who picked up his 16th goal of the season last night (the NHL initially gave him the goal, then it was given to Ehlers and then it was given back to Ladd).

Ladd slapper

Winnipeg Sun:  Double shot of Jagr downs Jets.  Best headline I’ve seen in awhile.  Ted’s recap of last night’s contest.

Miami Herald:  Jaromir Jagr reaches milestone in Panthers’ win over Jets.  Michael Hutchinson will now be the answer to the trivia question “who did Jaromir Jagr score a goal on to tie and surpass Brett Hull’s NHL goal scoring record?”.

CBC:  The Jets, the tank, the reality.  A word that fans are becoming more and more familiar with as the season gets more and more desperate.

Panthers 3 Jets 1:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game scrum.  On the chances his team had tonight.  On Jagr’s play.  Thought’s on his team’s battle level?

Moose news:

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:  Lowly Manitoba beats Milwaukee once again.  Don’t look now but the AHL squad for the Jets are rolling picking up their fourth win in a row.
