Note: Jets will practice here in Winnipeg before heading to Edmonton for a Saturday night date with the Oilers.
Note II: The Moose will also hit the ice to practice here in Winnipeg (they will be at the IcePlex) as they get ready to host the Chicago Wolves for back to back matinees this weekend.
Afternoon Jets news:
Winnipeg Sun: Pavelec back, Hellebuyck sent to Moose. The news had Jets land a flutter. Ken writes about today’s big goalie move.
Illegal Curve: Coach Maurice scrum. Status of Pavelec. Any thought of sending Pavelec to the Moose for a conditioning assignment? On Pavelec getting healthy. Will he start against Edmonton? Challenge to Pavelec having been off for so long. Psychologically what can it do for the Jets getting Pavelec back? What was the message to Hellebuyck? Easier for a young player to understand why he is being sent down? Thoughts on how Hellebuyck will be used with the Moose. Myers and Trouba are just maintenance. Any danger in Hellebuyck being sent down on a “low” point? How did he know it was time for Pavelec? On the team saying they weren’t able to match the Bruins. On his use of Mark Stuart last night. Making sense of Connor McDavid.
Illegal Curve: Jets Practice Report. Before the team left for Edmonton we hear from Ondrej Pavelec and Drew Stafford.
Jets news:
ESPN: Buyers and sellers in the Central Division. Usual Ladd/Trouba talk.
Winnipeg Free Press: Playing from behind takes toll on Jets. (Paywall). Off the top of my head I cannot recall the exact stat but I’m pretty sure the Jets are winless when trailing after a period or two.
Winnipeg Free Press: Sharp Bruins out-battle Jets to a 6-2 win. (Paywall). If ever it seemed like we were watching two games in one it was last night. After a quick goal against the Jets they were able to suck the wind out of the Bruins sails and took over the game for quite some time. However the Jets were unable to get a shot for aproximately seventeen and a half minutes (mid way through the 2nd and into the 3rd).
Winnipeg Sun: Jets season in a nutshell. Hard to believe this squad cannot get to three straight wins.
Winnipeg Sun: Cheveldayoff says it’s either a contract extension or trade before deadline for Ladd. Fans have to be happy that they will have an asset at the end of the day.
CBC: Jets can’t find momentum, again. For the eighth time this season the Jets were unable to win a third game in a row.
CSN New England: Talking Points – Bergeron leads the way vs. Jets. Read about the game from a Bruins beat writer’s perspective.
TSN: That’s Hockey 2Nite. (Video). Do the Jets’ ongoing struggles change the way they should approach Andrew Ladd and the trade deadline? Dave Reid talks about what Winnipeg should do with their captain.
Sportsnet: Andrew Ladd wants to stay in Winnipeg, still open to extension. Fans really seem to have significantly different ideas on what to do with the Jets captain.
Sportsnet: Frolik lesson should push Jets GM with Andrew Ladd. No franchise can afford to lose assets for nothing. All eyes will be on the Jets GM for the next three weeks.
Sportsnet: HC @ Noon. (Video). Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff talks about signing defenceman Dustin Byfuglien and the Jets attempted run at the playoffs which runs 10:48.
