Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  Despite a less than ideal start to the home stand the Jets will get back on the ice today following a 4-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday afternoon.

Note II:  The Moose return to action as they face the Lake Erie Monsters tonight at the MTS Centre in their final series at home (game 2 on Wednesday) before they head out on the road for two games in North Carolina and then six games in California.  Puck drops at 7 pm.  As always stay tuned to illegalcurve.com and our social media including Twitter| Facebook | Instagram for pre and post game news.

Jets news:

Sportsnet:  If Jets can’t win now, then when?  The sweating has begun as the losses add up and the two big UFA on July 1st remain unsigned.  Can the Jets turn it around and start winning?  If not….

Winnipeg Free Press: Reinhart earns hat-trick as Sabres beat Jets 4-2.  (Paywall).  Not a bad night for a rookie.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Evander Kane says crowd’s boos ‘had no bearing’ on his game.  (Paywall).  Really doubt that he would say anything else.  He did manage to make fun of his pre game skate slip up.

Winnipeg Sun:  Sabres spoil Track Suit Day.  While the atmosphere at MTS Centre felt festive with all the leisure wear the reality is this Jets team needed two points more than they needed some chuckles.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets could be without Perreault.  It could have been the 2nd period collision that sent him hobbling off to the Jets dressing room or the 3rd period pile on which had him talking to the trainers on the bench.  We should have a better idea when coach Maurice addresses the media at practice today.

Sportsnet:  Kane closes book on Winnipeg chapter in style.  He didn’t lay any big hits and the crowd piled on him quite a bit.  While it made for a memorable game the Evander Kane relationship to Winnipeg is finally concluded.

CBC:  Kane’s return to Winnipeg rather quiet.  The game definitely had its moments but I think it is safe to say that everyone is ready to move on and leave these relationships in the past.

Buffalo News:  Kane finds it’s better to give than receive in Sabres’ victory.  Had to be somewhat sweet to make that unselfish play past two of the players he was traded for as the pass to Reinhart went past Stafford and Myers to seal the deal for Buffalo.  Read about the game from a Sabres beat writer’s perspective.

Yahoo Sports:  Kane gets last laugh on Winnipeg Jets’ ‘Track Suit Night’.  Fans came with high hopes that they could get some yuk yuks and the home team would get a win.  One out of two is what they ended up with.

CBS:  Jets fans revel in mocking Evander Kane in return to Winnipeg.  There were so many leisure suits inside the MTS Centre yesterday I felt like I was in Del Boca Vista Phase III.  Lots of chants throughout the game including fans managing to coordinate “where’s your track suit” and then switching to “in the shower”.
