Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Note:  The Moose swept their back to back series with the Rampage as they came from behind to win last night 3-2 over San Antonio.  It was their eighth win of the season to bring their record to 8-14-1-2.  Manitoba heads on the road where they play the Milwaukee Admirals on the 19th and the Chicago Wolves on the 21st before the Christmas break.

Note II:  The Jets look to get back on track as they host a tough New York Rangers team who played and lost 5-2 in Minnesota last night.  Originally the Jets were supposed to face Henrik Lundqvist tonight as Antti Raanta started the game last night but he was forced to leave the game with 6:11 left in the 1st period.  Lundqvist allowed four goals on 31 shots.  The Rangers have been struggling of late having lost four of their last five games.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets have a chance to ramp up pressure on Rangers.  (Paywall).  When you have a team that is playing the way the Rangers have been of late, especially when they are coming from playing last night, the Jets have to take advantage.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Poor PK and league worst penalty totals could turn Jets into lottery team. (Paywall).  Last season the Jets killed penalties at an 81.8% clip (16th overall) but this season they are at 77.3% which has them 25th overall.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets trying to keep it positive.  Paul writes about the two big challenges that coach Maurice faces with his squad which are his team’s PK and their mood.

CBC:  Jets get joyous with rendition of Jingle Bells.  Makes me think of former Jets coach Claude Noel as the Jets put the joy back in joyville.

Winnipeg Sun:  Mighty Moose toast Texas.  This doesn’t seem like the same team that began the season incapable of winning or even scoring goals.  They managed to score eight against San Antonio during these two games.

Globalnews:  Manitoba Moose with first back to back wins of the season.  In addition to this feat they have managed to win three of their last four (and managed to secure a point in a shootout loss).
