Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets are now in New Jersey to take on the Devils in Game 2 of the 2015-16 season with puck drop at 6 pm following last night’s 6-2 over the Bruins in Boston.  Be sure to keep it locked to illegalcurve.com and on social media including Twitter | Facebook | Instagram for all the pre and post game news.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets steal opening night show in Boston’s barn.  After a slow start which saw them down 1-0 after twenty minutes they had a fire lit under them for periods 2 and 3 and they scored three goals in each period to finish the game with a 6-2 victory.

Winnipeg Sun:  It wasn’t pretty but Petan will take it.  It is like a good fishing story.  The three inch guppy you caught becomes a 3 foot long shark as the years go by.  Similarly Petan’s first NHL goal in his first NHL game will eventually become a top shelf slap shot as opposed to the bank shot off his skate.  Nice for the rookie to achieve that with his family in the crowd.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets balanced in blowout.  Six Jets goals and six different goal scorers.  Who woulda thunk it?  Ken breaks down the game.

Winnipeg Sun:  Byfuglien all about new beginnings as season gets underway.  It was funny listening to Dustin Byfuglien talking like an old guy (he’s 30) when talking about helping to ease the pressure that some of “the kids” in the lineup may be facing.

CSN New England:  ‘Inexcusable’ night for young Bruins D-men in lopsided loss.  They don’t pull any punches in their assessment of the Bruins following the loss.

CSN New England:  No further discipline expected for Burmistrov hit on Bergeron.  Based on the type of player Burmistrov is, I really don’t think he would intentionally target someone’s head. The concern is because of Patrice Bergeron’s past history with concussions.

Sportsnet:  Jets exploit Bruins’ defensive struggles in season opener.  This Jets/Thrashers franchise hadn’t won in Boston since a victory by Atlanta back in 2007.  Ironically it was former Winnipeg Jets 1.0 captain Keith Tkachuk who scored the winning goal with 19 seconds left in a tied hockey game.

Illegal Curve:  Prognosticating the Winnipeg Jets 2015-16 season.  Asked a cross section of the media that cover the Jets on a daily basis to give me their picks as to where the Jets would finish in the Central as well as the Western Conference.

National Post:  Team seeks youth and skill to go with grinding work ethic.  A yearbook style page all about your Winnipeg Jets.
