Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  As part of the Pass It Forward program, donate used hockey gear to Perth’s Drycleaners during the month of September! They are a charitable program working to outfit deserving youth in equipment.  Read more about the program here.

Note II:  The Jets head to St. Paul without a win so far in the pre-season.  But they are hoping to change that today when the team will play the Wild at 5 pm central time at Xcel Energy Center.  As always be sure to keep it locked to illegalcurve.com and on social media including Twitter | Facebook | Instagram for the latest Jets news both pre and post game.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Rookies creating problems for Jets.  (Paywall).  The kids are alright and with a number of spots available it will be interesting to see which are chasing a roster spot as we get closer and closer to the end of training camp.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Defenceman Pardy a bubble boy. (Paywall).  Coach Maurice recognized that Pardy was a big help to the organization last season when they needed him while at the same time acknowledging that they currently have a glut of defenceman in that role this year and what that could mean for the Atlantic Canadian defenceman.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Burmi’s chance to blossom. (Paywall).  He sure sounds aware of the expectations on him this season but doesn’t sound like he is allowing it to get to him as he attempts to show that he has what it takes to be an effective player in the NHL.

Winnipeg Sun:  Burmistrov auditioning for big role.  There are some big expectations on his shoulders and he will have an opportunity to impress his coach when he plays with Ladd and Little on Tuesday against the Senators.

Winnipeg Sun:  Skate slice a small setback for Jets’ Andrew MacWilliam.  Ken introduces you to the former UND defenceman who is currently attempting to secure a spot on the Jets back end.  He also wrote about JC Lipon and gives you an Around the Glass column.

Day 9 audio:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Paul Maurice.   What does he hope Burmistrov can bring to a line with Ladd/Little?  Fair to say they need a collective group effort to replace Frolik?  Little and Ladd playing Sunday?  Hutchinson playing tomorrow?  On Adam Pardy and where he fits with this group.  On tomorrow’s roster.  Optimal number to get down to on Monday?  On his coaching staff.  On why he hasn’t sought out any people he was familiar with to bring on to his staff?

Illegal Curve:  Player audio.  Hear from Alexander Burmistrov and Bryan Little.
