Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The team has recycled the memory of the game against Chicago on Sunday and is looking ahead to the game against the New York Rangers tonight.  As always keep it locked to @illegalcurve for the latest Jets news updates throughout the day.

Games of significance last night: Canucks won.  Hawks won.  Kings lost.  Flames won. Stars lost. Avs lost.

Games of significance tonight:  Canucks (@ Preds).

Jets news:

ESPN:  Who will grab final playoff spots in West?  (Requires ESPN Insider access).  Custance asked players from each conference, a coach and executive who they thought would grab a playoff spot.  Jets and Flames fans won’t like the toss up for the final spot.  If this proves accurate that April 11th game in Winnipeg sure might prove interesting.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets trying to put tough loss against Hawks behind them.  Lots of talk on Monday from those on the outside was about the points left behind on Sunday.  While the team is well aware of the standings they know that a win tonight can help ease the pain of the last loss.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets licking wounds after painful loss.  There wasn’t a lot of joy today at the MTS Centre but while the players were clearly bothered by the loss, they are ready to move on and focus on the Rangers.

Global News:  Jets not wallowing over loss.  Russ breaks down the day at the MTS Centre.

Yahoo Sports:  Playoff bubble teams you don’t want to play.  Jets make the list.  Now fans around here would just like to see the team make the playoffs before considering the veracity of the title.

Illegal Curve:  Practice Report.  A look at the players who took the ice at the MTS Centre Monday as well as audio from Ondrej Pavelec, Andrew Ladd, Tyler Myers and Bryan Little.

Jets audio:

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler & Lawless.  Dennis Beyak spoke about the Jets’ playoff chances. Beyak expects Bryan Little to return to the number one centre position, and says Dustin Byfuglien’s return has been felt by opposing teams.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Hustler & Lawless.  University of Michigan men’s hockey head coach Red Berenson joins Hustler & Lawless to discuss recent Winnipeg Jets signee and former Michigan captain Andrew Copp. Berenson says he wishes Copp had waited another year, to be more than ready for entry into the NHL.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  Rona Roundtable.  Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press discusses the Jets loss to the Blackhawks and wonders how they will bounce back on Tuesday vs. New York.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice scrum.  How does he get past last night’s loss?  How would he assess last night’s game?  Good performance?  How does he use this as a teaching tool or does he just put in on the shelf?  His thoughts on Perreault’s game.  Does he look for anything in tomorrow’s game early on?  Would he be comfortable with the style of play from the Chicago game in the game against New York?  Little expected to play?  Is Chiarot ready?  Philosophy on getting players back into the game but also on taking players who have been playing well for the team.  On guys being willing to do whatever it takes to be successful for the team to win.  Does Lowry give the top line more space?  Update on Enstrom.  Sharing his goalie decision.
