Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets season was being written off after losses in games two and three of the road trip but they salvaged the trip with a big win against one of the top teams in the East.

Games of significance last night:  Sharks lost.  Canucks won.  Wild won.  Kings lost.  Flames lost.

Games of significance tonight:  Stars (vs. Blues).

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Unlikely heroes come through for Jets.   Paul Postma left the confines of the press box to play in his 100th career NHL game and was a major factor in the game as was the play of Ondrej Pavelec who made all but one save yesterday.  Gary covers the above and more in his column.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets shock Bolts.   I don’t think Ken is wrong when he says that win was critical to saving the season.  Especailly when you consider that teams like the Kings and Flames lost in regulation allowing the Jets to gain some ground in the playoff race.

Tampa Bay Tribune:  Lightning hit roadbump against Winnipeg on way to postseason.  Interesting comments by the Bolts bench boss on the desperation shown by the Jets last night.

CBC:  Jets shock Lightning with late rally.  How many people would have believed at the beginning of the season that we would see a goal scored by Drew Stafford and assisted by Jiri Tlusty and Lee Stempniak?  Wheeler also picked up his 20th goal of the season joining Little (24) and Ladd (23) in the 20+ goal club.

TSN:  Sportscentre (video).  In the heat of a playoff race, the Jets managed to pull off a comeback win and Craig Button explains how important the victory over the Lightning was.

Sportsnet:  Enstrom a bloody mess after hit from behind (video).  The panel seemed to infer that Enstrom should have been better aware of his circumstances but hard to argue that the manner in which Kucherov made contact, including leaving his feet, wasn’t deserving of a penalty.

Sportsnet:  Scheifele gets nailed by Stralman (video).  There was a lot of consternation among Jets nation as they saw #55 on the ice writhing in pain.  Thankfully for the Jets he was quickly back on the ice after heading to the dressing room.  Did you think it was a dirty hit?
