Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The Jets climbed back from a three goal deficit in the 3rd but a goal from behind the Jets blue line somehow beat Ondrej Pavelec, who was playing in relief of Michael Hutchinson, with 1:03 to go in the game.  A tough loss in regulation for a team fighting tooth and nail to get into the post season.

Update:  While the Jets cancelled practice today Ondrej Pavelec spoke to the media about the last minute goal against as well as his sparse use of late:

Ondrej Pavelec –  Describing the goal from his perspective.  Did it hit Trouba?  On not speaking to the media last night.  On playing well in the 3rd and the devastation of the goal against.  How does he put it behind him?  Does the rest of the game help his confidence.  On his frustration for not playing for three weeks.  How would he characterize his season?

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Czech-mate: Pavelec was brilliant, until...  Gary covers the game in his column including Hutchinson being hooked, messing with Myers and Ryan Reaves.

Pavelec makes the save

Winnipeg Sun:  Crushing blow for Jets.  Might have to add that to the category of “what might have been” (along with the San Jose Sharks game back in January) if this team falls short in their quest to make the playoffs.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  Fluke goal?  Blues will take it.  Coach Hitchcock won’t like his team giving up three goals in the 3rd period but at the end of day they added two points and inched closer to top spot in the Western Conference.

Sportsnet:  Jackman scores winner… from centre ice (video).  Jets fans may not want to watch this ever again.

Blues 5 Jets 4:

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice post-game scrum (audio).  How does he put that game into words?  What did the club do well in the 3rd?  On the play of Pavelec to keep them in the game.  What did he see on the Jackman goal?  Was Pavelec screened?
