Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers

Latest Jets news.

Note:  The final game of 2014 goes tonight at the MTS Centre at 4 pm as the Jets look to close out the year with a win.  As usual stick with us throughout the day for the latest Jets news.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets lean on Buff’s leadership in time of need.  He doesn’t say much to the media but he has plenty to say to his team mates and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  Tim writes about the difference the big man makes  for this team.

Winnipeg Free Press:  D-first mentality limiting toll of injuries.  No question about it that this team has shown that they have bought into Coach Maurice’s collective team mentality.  While this may limit individual points the team first thought process has been adding up to points in the standings.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Perreault finding his groove.  He didn’t get off to the best start here in Winnipeg but he has certainly been lighting it up for the team of late.  Hard top argue with this signing by the team.

Winnipeg Free Press:  Ok Pavs, it’s your move.  Personally I don’t put too much stake in one game alone as there are too many variables at play.  However Gary writes about the importance of today’s game as a statement for the Jets #1 netminder.

Winnipeg Sun:  Lowry hitting his stride.  Not easy to make the transition from full time AHL to full time NHL but the Jets rookie has done an admirable job so far this season.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets ready to close out 2014 vs. Islanders.  Similar to the win over Chicago the Jets want to head into the break with another two points in the standings bank.

CBC:  Paul Maurice reflects on the year in Winnipeg (video).  The Jets bench boss talks glowingly of the time he and his family have spent in our city.

TSN:  C’mon Ref.  It is clear Jets fans are still unsure about that game tying goal that Vanek scored against Winnipeg on Saturday and former NHL ref turned TSN analyst gives you his insight into what should have happened.

Sportsnet:  30 Thoughts.  Thought 3 (Frolik) and then 20-22 are Jets related.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice scrum (audio).  Does he think any of his colleagues will be surprised by what Dustin Byfuglien has been doing for the Jets?  Follow-up question with respect to Byfuglien’s physicality.  Just a maintenance day for Dustin?  What has impressed him most with Lowry’s transition to the NHL?  What would he have liked to see his team do differently with the delayed high stick?  Seeing something new.  Approaching his first anniversary, fair to say he’s seen a lot of growth in 2014? Reflection on the past year.  Was the blown lead yesterday similar to the mistakes made against Philadelphia?

Islanders news:

Newsday:  Isles start long trip determined to avoid meltdowns.  After a tough loss to the Capitals this will be a team looking to show a better effort against Winnipeg.
