Jets news:
Winnipeg Free Press: Jets making believers of themselves. The old Jets may have wilted down 3-1 to a powerful Penguins team. Instead this team punched back (literally in a number of circumstances) and showed they had plenty of snarl.
Winnipeg Free Press: ‘We played a hell of a game’. It was quite easily the most entertaining game we have seen this year and had many in the press box and across social media saying it was in the Top 3 games ever played at the MTS Centre.
Winnipeg Sun: Jets go toe-to-two with high-powered Penguins before falling in shootout. Erasing a deficit to a team like Pittsburgh is no easy feat but the Jets not only did that but had a number of chances to win the contest.
Yahoo Sports: Dustin Byfuglien takes out Steve Downie after goal, takes on all Penguins. Perhaps most impressively was fact that not only did Downie not back down but he subsequently went looking for Byfuglien later on that game.
CBS Sports: Evander Kane completes Gordie Howe hat trick against Pens. It was a memorable night for the young winger who notched his 100th NHL goal in the game.
Pittsburgh Tribune: Jets’ Maurice, Penguins’ Johnston have teams headed in right direction. An article about the impact both coaches are having on their respective clubs.
Grantland: What’s going on in the Central? Doesn’t appear that there is much faith in Pavelec and the Jets current run being sustainable.
Penguins 4 Jets 3 in shootout:
Winnipeg Jets: Andrew Ladd, Evander Kane, Blake Wheeler and Mathieu Perreault.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Johnston, Sidney Crosby, Brandon Sutter and Marc-Andre Fleury.
Coach Maurice post-game presser: Coach Maurice met with the media following the game against Pittsburgh.
Jets on a Deadline: Game recaps, post-game audio, video highlights and the NHL.com 3 Stars of the night.
