Notable:

Neal Pionk played in his 307th game wearing a Jets jersey. That moved him one ahead of Patrik Laine and into sole possession of 17th overall on the all-time list.

It was quite the wait for Declan Chisholm who made his NHL debut back in January of 2022 for the Jets in a visit to Detroit to take on the Wings. He’d play one more game that season against the Blues in St. Louis. Then the 2018 5th rounder of Winnipeg would wait 23 months for his next chance this evening.

While it didn’t result in an assist in the 1st period Nikolaj Ehlers made three or four crisp passes to his linemates that were excellent.

The conditioning stint with the Moose did Declan Chisholm some good. He’s displaying his excellent skating, crisp passing and confidence in his abilities in his first NHL game in almost two year.

Heck of a nice move and pass in Gabriel Vilardi in just his second game back to find Mark Scheifele who scores his eighth goal of the season which came on the power play to tie the game.

Those excellent Ehlers passes finally paid off in the 2nd when he found the birthday boy Morgan Barron who went streaking in and scored his fourth goal of the season. Not too shabby to get the GWG on your birthday.

The third Jets goal was a really nice play as all five players on the ice touched the puck. Cole Perfetti won the faceoff to Alex Iafallo who got it to Gabriel Vilardi who passed it over to Declan Chisholm who fired it across to Dylan Samberg who put it on net and which shot was tipped by Cole Perfetti to give Winnipeg an insurance goal.

Cole Perfetti sets a new career high for goals as he gets his ninth of the season. Comes in game 23. Last year he had eight in 51 games. On pace for 32 this season.

It was also a milestone for Declan Chisholm who picked up his first ever point in the NHL with the secondary assist on the third goal.

Those connections on the scoresheet were quite the ‘Made in Manitoba’ trio with Cole Perfetti, Dylan Samberg and Declan Chisholm all spending plenty of time together on the Moose.
