Winnipeg Jets loan Declan Chisholm to the Manitoba Moose on a conditioning assignment

The last time Declan Chisholm suited up for a hockey game was back on Friday, September 29th for game 4 of the Jets pre-season schedule. It’s been over six weeks since that time.

Clearly the organization needs him to get back into game shape and they’ll hope to achieve that by loaning him to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL on a conditioning assignment.

Normally Chisholm would require waivers to go to the AHL but the conditions of this exempt him from waivers. The maximum amount of time he can be assigned in this manner is two weeks during which time he’ll still receive NHL compensation and count against the Jets salary cap/23-man roster.

Fortunately for both Chisholm and the organization, the Moose play eight games in the next two weeks so he could certainly see a lot of action.

The last time the Jets assigned a player on a conditioning assignment was Mark Letestu back in March of 2020 although he never played any games for the Moose. Prior to that it was back in 2018 when they assigned goalie Steve Mason to the Moose who played just one game for Manitoba.
