On the 28th we did a roster health check with the team dealing with seven injured players and one in protocol. Josh Morrissey and Dylan DeMelo have come off that list and while interim head coach Dave Lowry didn’t provide updates on the remaining six players he did have some updates today following morning skate in Winnipeg.
Nathan Beaulieu:
“He skated this morning. He just skated away from the team. He didn’t feel 100%, yesterday he wasn’t comfortable in the group, so that we’ll make sure that we manage that. We need our guys to come back off injury and not miss any more time.”
Nikolaj Ehlers:
“He won’t be with the group for awhile. My understanding is he is still a long ways away. That might be two weeks that might be a month, I can’t give you a definitive day. He went home he could do stuff away. He comes back now we can ramp up and we will see where he is.”
David Gustafsson:
“He skated again today but not with the group.”
Dylan Samberg:
“He’s not on the ice. He’s unavailable right now.”
The Jets also have three players in protocol including Pierre-Luc Dubois, Neal Pionk and Austin Poganski. He was asked if anyone would be available for the road trip after tonight’s game when they play in Dallas and Nashville over the weekend.
“The only guy who probably will be available or could be available and travel with us is Pionk, provided his numbers meets criteria. Doobie should be a player on the weekend. That’s what we’re hoping provided everything stays consistent with where it was yesterday. And then Poganski, my belief is that he’s not going to be available but I would have to go back and confirm that.”
Good insight from number 37.
