Back on December 17th Jets forward Andrew Copp left the game against the Hurricanes after he collided with Jordan Staal. The day following the injury coach Maurice said Copp would be week-to-week which was upgraded to “at least four weeks” on December 19th.
Today following practice in Montreal coach Maurice was asked if Copp, who was wearing a regular uniform during skate, would be a player against the Habs. The Jets bench boss indicated “Well we never take a guy off IR a day before he needs to but he was wearing the right colour sweater and he got through practice today so he needs to come to the rink tomorrow feeling as good as he’s leaving today.”
That would be a shade under three weeks since he sustained the injury to a return. And it couldn’t come at a better time for the Jets who could use Copp’s depth up front.
