On Friday we learned that Gustav Nyquist wouldn’t be a player for the Jets on Saturday afternoon against the Penguins after tweaking something in the game last Thursday against the Blackhawks. When we asked head coach Scott Arniel about the timeline he simply said that he might have an update for us after the game on Saturday.
When I reviewed the video of his final shift nothing was readily apparent that would indicate it was a significant injury other than his very slow skate back to the bench and the video we shot of his slow walk (with help) to the dressing room.

Nobody asked Arniel after the win over the Penguins about the veteran forward and the team was off on Sunday.
Today, before they left on their west coast road trip for six games they hit the ice for a practice and Nyquist wasn’t a participant. After skate head coach Scott Arniel was asked for health updates and after he advised us that Morgan Barron was week-to-week with an injury, he indicated that Nyquist remains day-to-day. No more insight on what is ailing him.
