The NHL announced that head coach Scott Arniel had made history as he became the first coach in NHL history to start his tenure with a new franchise winning their first eight games.

The record for the longest season-opening win streaks is 10 held by the 2006-07 Sabres and the 1993-94 Maple Leafs. With a win against Toronto on Monday they could match the 2015-16 Canadiens and 2021-22 Hurricanes.

Also more history can be made if Winnipeg can defeat Toronto on Monday as it would mean 17 straight wins dating back to last season which would match the record set by Pittsburgh back in 1992-93.
