Winnipeg Jets head coach provides health update on Kyle Capobianco & Nikolaj Ehlers

Updates on the injured players.

Today at morning skate Kyle Capbianco, who was slated to play tonight, but he left early and head coach Rick Bowness indicated the defenceman is dealing with a groin issue.

“He’s got a little bit of a sore groin. He was supposed to play and we’re going to keep him out tonight. We liked his last game. You play with a sore groin, he wants to play but all of a sudden we’re five to eight minutes into the game and he gets hit the wrong way and you’re down to five D and then he’s going to miss the next little bit so we’re being precautionary and we will pull him for tonight.”

Sounds like Tyrel Bauer will be playing in his place.

Asked for an update on Nikolaj Ehlers who was dealing with neck spasms he began to deal with last Wednesday, the bench boss of Winnipeg indicated:

“He’s still not skating with the group. He skated with the injured guys today. We were hoping he would play tonight, we were hoping he would play in Ottawa but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. That’s disappointing for him and for us.”

Asked if there is any concern.

“No it’s just taken a little longer to heal than we thought.”

He did say that Jets 2023 1st rounder Colby Barlow is back skating after dealing with the flu.
