With the 5th pick in the 2019 draft the Jets selected Michigan product Logan Neaton. The goalie product was committed to UMass-Lowell for the 2019-20 season. As an aside he wouldn’t be the first 5th rounder Jets goalie prospect from Michigan going to UMass-Lowell as that is literally the same path as 2012 5th rounder Connor Hellebuyck took.
However after two seasons at UMass-Lowell in which he was limited to just three games per season, he transferred to Miami University (Ohio) for the 2021-22 season. Neaton has played seven games this season for the RedHawks but hasn’t played since January 7th (his team has played five contests since his last game).
Brad Elliott Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald reported on January 15th that Neaton might be out for the season.
In his weekly media address this week RedHawks head coach Chris Bergeron confirmed that Neaton is “out for the season”.
