During the 1st intermission of the game between Utah and Winnipeg they had a segment featuring play-by-play voice Dan Robertson and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff in which he was asked a number of questions including whether he’s begun negotiations with Nikolaj Ehlers camp.
“I haven’t had any negotiations with any of the free agents yet as far as sitting down and talking to them about actual nitty-gritty of contracts, but I have had conversations with many of the RFA and UFA free agents.”
This was the posture the team adopted last season with players like Brenden Dillon and Dillon DeMelo which allowed them to get to free agency where they ultimately lost one to free agency and obviously signed the other.
Given how many UFAs the team has this season it’s not a surprise that they appear to be adopting a similar position so as to not “rock the boat” where they are seen negotiating with one or two UFAs and not all of them. Could cause problems in the room.

Of course the lack of conversation might also be cause for concern for Jets fans as to what will happen with Nikolaj Ehlers and his future in Winnipeg beyond this season.
