Kevin Cheveldayoff conference call on relocation of AHL team to Winnipeg

He spoke with the media for about twenty minutes about the big news of the day.  Listen here:

Kevin Cheveldayoff  – Thanking city of St. John’s and people in the IceCaps organization.  Outlining the most important reason to move the team closer to Winnipeg.  Will they call the team Manitoba Moose?  Is this a long term plan?  How difficult will it be in terms of scheduling a second team in the MTS Centre?  Challenge of having two teams on the same ice surface (wear and tear).  What conditions/developments would make this short term or long term?  Committed to more than one season?  On the ease of calling up players.  Was this decision accelerated due to other Western Conference teams moving their AHL teams closer to home.  On the number of games they will play.  Is there a history of an NHL/AHL team sharing a building?  Does he have any insight as to whether there is an appetite for AHL hockey in Winnipeg this time?  On the attendance projections for the team.  Is Thunder Bay still on the radar?  On confidence of making it work here.
