Winnipeg Jets extend qualifying offers to eight players

The Jets had a laundry list of players to qualify today or they would become unrestricted free agents.

They have announced that they have qualified:

Pierre-Luc Dubois
Mason Appleton
Jansen Harkins
David Gustafsson
Kristian Vesalainen
Jeff Malott
Johnny Kovacevic
Leon Gawanke

None of these are a surprise. Kristian Vesalainen signed overseas for next year but this allows the Jets to retain his rights.

Not receiving qualifying offers:

Evgeny Svechnikov
Markus Phillips

Svechnikov is a bit of a surprise since he was found money last season. He played 72 games for Winnipeg this season scoring seven goals and adding 12 assists. (All career highs).

Phillips was acquired as part of a trade last season between the Jets and Kings organizations as Winnipeg (Manitoba) traded away Nelson Nogier.
