Notable:
Absolutely nothing happened in the opening period.
Too many penalties called in the middle frame.
During one of the infrequent 5 on 5 shifts the Jets had all five guys touch the puck including a nice alley-oop pass by Dylan Samberg before Nino Niederreiter found Mason Appleton on a 3 on 1 with 22 burying the opening goal of the game.
That’s back-to-back games with a goal for Appleton after going 25 games without scoring.
During the 2nd intermission Brenden Dillon was asked how much fun he’s having in Winnipeg: “It’s been a blast. From day 1 of training camp lotta new faces here this year but we’re just having fun, we’re enjoying it, we’re playing a complete team game and I think everyone’s reaping the benefits individually..” He went on to speak about how unselfish the team has been and praised head coach Rick Bowness for how he’s “running the ship the right way”.
It looked like Connor Hellebuyck would be unbeatable this game but the Sens got one past him as Norris stole the puck behind the Jets net, got it to Taraskenko who fed Parker Kelly who tied the game just five minutes into the 3rd.
What an OT game-winning goal by Nikolaj Ehlers to end it. That’s his 32 GWG of his career.
Multipoint Game:
None.
