Winnipeg Jets coach Scott Arniel confirms captain Adam Lowry coming on road trip as “friendly face” (not as a player)

The Jets lost their captain Adam Lowry last Monday in a game against Utah when he went down in the 1st period, played the remainder of the opening 20 minutes but didn’t play the rest of the game. Two days later his bench boss Scott Arniel advised that Lowry would be out week to week with an upper-body injury.

Since he went down the team has rattled off three straight wins including an impressive performance two days later against Colorado which they followed up with wins against Utah and then Calgary.

Following the game against the Flames head coach Scott Arniel was asked if Lowry would be making the trip with the team which starts in Montreal on Tuesday followed by Boston on Thursday and then concluding with Washington next Saturday night.

“Yeah just as a friendly face”.

The follow-up question indicated the Jets have five games before the 4 Nations break (the last game for them is on February 7th) and asked if he anticipated Lowry would be a player before it begins?

“Don’t think so. I’m not going to, I don’t think so.”

The 4 Nations goes from February 12th to the 20th.

Based on Arniel’s hesitation when answering the second question it could mean that Lowry might be ready before the tournament starts or they could be targeting a return by the game against the Blues on the 22nd of February which would be a month after the injury occurred.
