Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry set to make his regular season debut against the Kings

If you would have told me that Jets captain Adam Lowry, top shut down defenceman Dylan Samberg and second line play driver Cole Perfetti would miss the first month (and more) of the regular season and that Winnipeg would be 9-3-0 before any of them came back I’m not sure I would have believed it. Additionally the penalty kill is ranked 5th overall without Lowry/Samberg and again there would have been an absence of belief given how important that duo are to the PK.

But that’s just where the 2nd overall Jets are with the news that Adam Lowry is set to make his return to the lineup for the first time since offseason hip surgery that he underwent in late May.

That’s what we learned when the captain spoke today after practice in Winnipeg as his team got set to embark on a six-game road trip. He broke the news that he will make his return against the Kings on Tuesday night when he was asked if he’s have to lobby the coach or training staff in order to play.

“Fortunately I think we’ve already made that decision so I don’t really have to push too hard. I’m looking forward to being back out there competing with the guys.”

This comes at a good time as the team got some bad news about Morgan Barron who Scott Arniel indicated is out week-to-week.

The Jets road trip starts in California where they will take on all three teams (Kings, Sharks and then Ducks) before they head to Vancouver to take on the Canucks followed by the Kraken in Seattle before concluding on the 15th in Calgary against the Flames.
