Winnipeg Jets associate coach Scott Arniel confirms Gabe Vilardi won’t skate during road trip

Latest on Jets top line winger.

Last time Jets fans saw Gabe Vilardi on the ice was back on October 17th in a game against his old Kings team. A collision in the corner caused him to go down in the 1st period and he did not return to the game.

We would learn the next day that he was expected to miss anywhere from 4-6 weeks with an MCL sprain.

When Winnipeg left for their three-game road trip on Tuesday the team tweeted out a photo of Vilardi at the airport heading on the road with them.

Today following morning skate Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press asked associate coach Scott Arniel whether Vilardi could skate with the Jets at some point on the trip:

“No, no we’re not near that. ‘Cause we had a function there he just wanted to be a part of it.”

Believe that function was the Jets had a rookie dinner.

He continued:

“He’s just back training. So he can be part of our strength group there.”

Not a huge surprise given it has just been two weeks since the injury occurred but that’s your latest update on the top line winger for Winnipeg.
