Winnipeg Jets’ Arniel says Iafallo, Namestnikov, Pionk well below full health

Trio of players dealing with injury.

The Jets recalled a pair of prospects (Yager & Chibrikov) from the Moose on Sunday on an emergency basis as the team left Winnipeg for the final two road games of the regular season. Since they didn’t skate yesterday we didn’t know which players they may be replacing.

Today in Vegas we learned, via Jets radio colour analyst Mitchell Clinton that Alex Iafallo, Vlad Namestnikov and Neal Pionk didn’t participate at the skate.

Following skate we learned the nature of the emergency as head coach Scott Arniel provided an update on the trio:

“All three of those guys, a couple of them were banged up two games ago and last game, Vladdy was the one that got hurt. They were playing with some injuries and were trying to get through it. We’re at a stage right now where, it’s not because of where we’re at, because we lost the other night, these guys have been trying to put everything on the line to play. Right now, they’re not even at 50/60 percent. That’s why we had to make a move and bring in some other guys, some fresh legs, and hopefully that gives us a little bit of a spark.”

While tough news for that trio of injured players it does mean we will see an NHL debut for Brayden Yager and it also means Colin Miller will play his first game since January 11th.
