Winnipeg Jets announce ECHL affiliation agreement with Bloomington Bison

And just like that the Jets and Moose have a new ECHL affiliation.

Earlier today it was announced that the Jets and Admirals would not be continuing their ECHL affiliation, leaving Winnipeg and Manitoba in need of a new minor-league partner.

We didn’t have to wait long.

The Jets announced they have reached an affiliation agreement with the Bloomington Bison, an Illinois-based franchise that began ECHL play in the 2024-25 season. Bloomington spent its first two seasons affiliated with the Rangers.

From the Jets release:

“I’m thrilled for the next step in growing our organization,” said Bloomington Bison President Andy Zilch. “The Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose have a long and proven track record of developing talent on and off the ice. Their vision and professionalism align with our values in Bloomington, and this affiliation will provide even more opportunities for our players, and for our fans to see them grow.”

While prospects and players assigned to the ECHL will undoubtedly miss the warmer weather of Norfolk, Virginia, the organization will likely appreciate Bloomington’s much closer proximity to Winnipeg and to many of the AHL cities the Moose visit throughout the season.
