Winnipeg Jets agree to terms with Julian Melchiori & Jamie Phillips

Another couple of signings as the Jets re-signed Julian Melchiori who has primarily played for the Moose in the AHL but did get the call to the Jets at the end of last season.  Jamie Phillips is a goalie who was drafted by the Jets in the 7th round in 2012.

Jets Release:

The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have re-signed restricted free agent defenceman Julian Melchiori on a two-year, two-way contract worth an AAV of $625,000 in the NHL. Winnipeg has also signed goaltender Jamie Phillips to a two-year entry-level NHL contract worth an AAV of $675,000 in the NHL.

Melchiori, 24, has been in the Jets organization for the past five seasons after being drafted by Atlanta in the third round, 87th overall in the 2010 NHL Draft. Last season, the Richmond Hill, ON native played 11 games with Winnipeg after starting the season with the Manitoba Moose where he played in 62 games and scored seven points (3G, 4A). That season, he was also nominated for the Mike Richter Award which honors the most outstanding goalie in NCAA men’s hockey. Phillips, a seventh round selection, 190th overall in 2012 by the Jets finished his NCAA career with a 57-25-8 record.
