Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Phoenix a chance for Jets to redeem themselves.  You could sense the snarl in this team post-game last night when they were just empty of answers when pressed by the media to explain the collapse.  Today they can take out their frustrations and play the role of spoiler to boot.

Winnipeg Sun:  Coach Maurice defends Pavelec.  One of the first things coach Maurice told the media when he got here was that he wouldn’t send messages to his players via the media so I’m not terribly surprised he isn’t hanging his goalie out to dry completely.  Of course this quote would seem to take the burden off the goalie; “He made some great saves in the third period and made a couple of great saves leading up to that. It can’t be the results that we gave up five that our goaltender wasn’t any good. They had some fine scoring chances. He played well.”!  What do you think?  Is Coach Maurice simply backing his player to give him confidence (especially considering he is using him again tonight) or do you think upon review of the game this is his assessment?

CBC:  Jets fly to Phoenix in fighting mood.  With all the Jets fans that will be at Jobing.com arena plus with the budding rivalry between the Jets 1.0 and Jets 2.0 this should be an interesting contest.

TSN:  Jets look to respond from tough loss, take on Coyotes.  Brian breaks down the game as Winnipeg plays the second last back to back of the season.

TSN 1290 Winnipeg:  The Big Show (audio).  Gary Lawless talks with The Big Show about the Jets collapse in Anaheim, his thoughts on Pavelec and talking about trading talent for better leadership.

Illegal Curve:  Game day set-up.  Ez sets up tonight’s action between the Jets and Coyotes including projected lineups, starting goalies, game notes and more.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Maurice pre-game (audio).  Pavelec is back between the pipes and the reason for it.  Concern with workload after coming off injury.  Any problem with his rebound control?  Are fans/media blowing one game out of proportion?  Will last night play a larger role in his evaluation?  Sum total of injuries the team has faced.  Injury updates (Ellerby, Bogosian, Montoya – “none available”).  Any changes tonight?  (“Don’t know.  Game time decision!”).

Illegal Curve:  Comrie and Morrissey from Jr. teams to IceCaps.  We started our Tuesday morning off with news that these two players had been assigned to the IceCaps from their Junior teams to experience the run to the playoffs and beyond.

Arizona Republic:  Coyotes shoot for 11 points in season’s final 7 games.  They are counting down in the Dessert to another potential playoff appearance which will be their fourth appearance in five seasons.
